Peace Boat 30th Anniversary

"Travelling Around the Globe Towards our Future"
Peace Boat embarked on its first voyage in the Autumn of 1983. At that time, the world was still divided by Cold War tensions, and even traveling across national boundaries was not easy. In this climate, a group of young people got together and decided that they wanted to see the world with their own eyes and connect with people across borders. This was the beginning of Peace Boat. Thirty years have already passed since then and now Peace Boat has coordinated over 80 voyages, including 55 global voyages, sailing with more than 50 thousand people to over 180 different ports, promoting a sustainable and peaceful global society. To celebrate this important anniversary Peace Boat will hold a 30th Anniversary Event and Party entitled "Traveling Around the Globe Towards our Future". The programme will feature many Peace Boat Guest Educators, from all over the world, each renowned in their own area of expertise and who have guided us on our travels. They will join us to present Peace Boat's current and past activities. There will also be a surprise announcement about our shared vision for the future! Two events will be held on November 9, 2013 to celebrate our anniversary- a symposium in the afternoon and a party in the evening. Both will be bilingual English-Japanese.
