Helping victims of natural disastersDATE:2011.09.30 - 2011.10.01
ORGANIZER:Tokiwa University, UNU-ISP and JEMRI
The Tokiwa International Victimology Institute (TIVI; Tokiwa University, Mito, Japan) will hold a two-day symposium under the theme "Helping Victims of Natural Disasters: From Grassroots to Governance” in collaboration with the United Nations University Institute for Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP) and the Japan-US Evidence-based Mental Health Response Initiative (JEMRI; Charleston, South Carolina, USA).

Professionals working for disaster victims in management, medical services, social welfare, and education, and anyone interested in helping disaster victims, as well as victims and surviving families of natural disasters, are welcome to attend.
The registration deadline is 28 September.

equest of a Country Visit to Japan by UN Special RapporteursSince crisis situations have been still ongoing in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, and the Fukushima First Nuclear Plants accidents, HRN has decided, through consultations with OHCHR human rights officers and other NGOs below, to make an urgent request to the UN Special Rapporteurs for a country visit to Japan in order to conduct fact-finding missions on such situations.
