nonprofit study tour and training opportunities

NEW OPPORTUNITY: Applications are being accepted for an NPO/NGO leadership training program that will be held on October 27–November 9, 2013 in Seattle and San Francisco for Japanese NPO/NGO staff. This will focus on best practices in nonprofit management and leadership, and it will include meetings with a range of US nonprofit leaders to discuss best practices. Travel expenses for participants will be covered by the sponsors. at 20:00-22:30pm on Thursday, August 29th at THE FootNik Ebisu.
The guests will be divided into groups of 4-5 and will guess what song
it is just by hearing one part of it. The songs will cover not just
popular ones but all genres so please invite friends who are knowledgeable
about different kinds of music! The group that guesses the most correct answers will be thewinner and will get exciting prizes! To those who lost, there will beanother big chance to win a big prize! 2013’s U.S. Global Human Trafficking Report, Japan Once More Fails to “Meet Minimum Standards”


In the U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons Report 2013, released on June 20th, Japan for the 13th year in a row ranks as a tier 2 country that despite efforts “does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking.” The reason lies in part due to Japanese laws not in the least even meeting the United Nations’ standards for necessary legislation against human trafficking.
Polaris Project Japan (PPJ) also took part in the process of providing information for this report. In particular, the report reflected the experiences of PPJ this last year in dealing with female and child victims who have been psychologically manipulated by captors and the ensuing difficulties present laws have with effectively responding to human trafficking employing such means.
