 NICCO
 (Nippon International Cooperation for Community Development) is 
currently looking for Field Assistant for Primary Health Care ( Kayin 
State )
 
 Project Title: Primary health care and the hygiene improvement in communities in Kayin State.
 
 About NICCO
 
 NICCO
 is a non-governmental organization founded in Kyoto, Japan, in 1979. 
Over the past three decades, NICCO has conducted 1) Emergency assistance
 2) Rural development based on environmentally sustainable agriculture 
and 3) Human resource development in the various countries based upon 
the strict humanitarianism and our policy of non-racial, non-religious 
and non-political.
 
 Currently, NICCO runs missions in such 
countries as Myanmar, Japan, the Philippines, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, 
Jordan, Palestine and Kanya. In Myanmar, NICCO implemented a project in 
Sagaing division in the 1980’s, and also provided medical assistance for
 the people affected by Cyclone Nargis in 2008.
 
 
 Project overview
 
 NICCO
 is currently implementing a project for primary health care and the 
hygiene improvement in the border areas in Kayin State through the 
improvement of the capacity of local persons and communities with the 
aim to promote voluntary repatriation by developing the basic 
infrastructure and social services for the inhabitants, IDP’s and 
returnees in the remote areas of Kayin State under the umbrella of Japan
 Platform (JPF) program.
 
 NICCO has been implementing 1) 
Construction of medical facilities, 2) Capacity building of health 
volunteers and villagers and 3) Hygiene Improvement by introduction of 
Eco-San Toilet* in our project sites since October 2013. From May 2015, 
we started to 4) introduce the livestock bank system into our target 
villages as the village fund in order to support sustainability of 
health and hygiene activities there.
 (*Eco San Toilet, Ecological 
Sanitation Toilet has urine-diversion systems and makes organic manure 
and fertilizer from human wastes. Eco san toilet is considered to be a 
possible approach to sanitize human excreta and recover nutrients for 
agriculture.)

 Location: Hpa-An, Kayin State, Myanmar
 Employment Type: Full time
 Starting Date: As soon as possible
 Contract Period:  To the 31st March, 2016 with the first 2 months considered an initial probationary period at most.

 Report to: Project Officer/Project Coordinator
 
 About the Position
 
 Under
 the supervision of and the guidance of project Officer, the key role of
 this position is to provide various support services in planning, 
coordination, delivery and evaluation of project in target communities.
 
 Key Responsibilities include:
 
 •
 Assist in the implementation of training to the community members in 
cooperation with the Myanmar government and organizations concerning 
primary health care.
 • Assist in the preparation of monthly work plan and the field activity report.
 • Logistic support and arrangement for trainings, workshop and meetings.
 • Assist in training and workshop to NICCO health volunteers and participants and act as an interpreter.
 • Assist in monitoring on the NICCO volunteer’s activities and the proper utilization of medical facility by communities.
 • Act as an interpreter for specialist for daily basis
 • Develop, translate (English- Karen- Burmese), organize and maintain the project materials.
 •
 Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving environment and
 complete the given tasks in a timely and dependable manner.
 • Assist
 Project Coordinator in developing NICCO’s project plans in accordance 
with the proposed plan, and ongoing needs assessments.
 • Identify difficulties and constraints encountered and report to Project Coordinator with suggestions and possible solutions.
 • Travel inside and outside of Kayin State as the Field Team.
 • Attend the relevant training if it is necessary.
 •
 Other duties allocated by Specialist(s), Manager and coordinator(s), 
officer(s) that are necessary for the project implementation.
 
 Personal and Professional Requirements
 
 • At least 2 years’ experience and/or education for related working/educational field.
 • At least 3 years work experience including part-time job.
 • Excellent spoken and written skills in English and Burmese (Sagaw and/or Poe Kayin is preferable).
 • Good computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) .
 • Previous working experience in a rural setting, and ease in dealing with rural communities.
 • Understanding of challenges faced by rural communities in relation to poor health and lack of knowledge.
 • Able to work both independently with limited supervision and as a part of team, particularly, in a remote area.
 • Able to frequently travel to the project sites located outside Hpa-An.
 • Able to live and work with minimum available basic facilities in the field.
 •
 Excellent Inter-personal skills, communication skills, problem-solving 
skills and non-judgmental attitude towards people with different ethnic 
backgrounds.
 • Experience of working in cross-cultural environment.
 • Able to work under pressure and manage schedule to meet deadline.
