Urban sustainability has come to represent a key factor both in the (over) urbanized and the (rapidly) urbanizing world: an area where the needs of human society meet with the innovations of technology and the impoverishment of the natural environment. The importance of a conscious linkage between the three has been made evident by the outcome of recent events and calamities that represent a threat to the survival of our species.
