- Introductions
- Quick review of what you have experienced, learned or know.
- What is campaigning? What is advocacy? Why advocacy? And why has advocacy become commonplace?
- Is this advocacy? When is an advocacy solution needed?
- Elements of a successful advocacy campaign
- Case review – finding commonalities
- Issue development and advocacy solutions to problems
Cutting and identifying issues, problem cause effect analysis,
- Setting goals, objectives-oriented planning
- Presentation - Report back on group work and plan
OUTLINE FOR SESSION 2 - August 27
- Stakeholders interest analysis
- Defining targets/decision makers
Meeting decision makers - Direct and indirect Lobbying
- Messaging – what do we want to convey
How do we communicate to different groups?
- Social Mobilization - Working with moving the public - different ways to get the public to involved your campaign
- Champions for your cause – who will help your cause? How will they bring the attention to the issue? who are potential champions for your cause?
- Working with and using the media - an introduction to different types of media work, and how to get successful media coverage for a campaign
- Final group work – Put all the pieces together
- Presentation - Report back on group work and plan
- Wrap up and Review
