Disaster Management and the role of NGOs Day/Time: Sun day 10:00-16:30 Date: April 7th This class focuses on the disaster management cycles and the role of NGOs in the relief, recovery, mitigation and preparation. After a review of the background and state of disasters in the world today, we focus on approaches to dealing with diverse hazards in different contexts. The classes will include presentation, discussion and simulation activities. We will review methods used by different organizations to better understand ways for dealing with complex issues. Grant Proposal Writing for Nonprofits/NGOs (One-day Workshop) Day/Time: Saturday 10:00-16:30 Date: April 6th This workshop will focus on how to write and submit a proposal to an international grant making foundation for a specific nonprofit NGO project. First we focus on doing research and getting information on foundations and the actual process. Then we focus exclusively on the step by step writing of the grant proposal. Each participant will come out of the workshop with a completed proposal outline. This will be an interactive workshop aimed at people with little or no experience writing project or funding proposals. Participants will be divided into project groups in order to create complete proposals. He then carried out  Google-funded research in 2007-2008 on “Sustainable Energy for Spaceship Earth” and in 2004 initiated efforts to establish a Center for the Exploration of the Limits of Life (CELL). The research in the CELL is meant to transcend traditional academic boundaries.
